Coaching differs from counseling in that the primary objective is to set goals, identify barriers, and foster mental, emotional, relational, and spiritual wellness. It is built upon the principles of behavioral science, psychology, and specialized techniques. In coaching, Brigette will encourage you to establish and reach your personal goals, with a focus on daily activities, self-awareness, coping, and personal well-being.
Coaching can be done with counseling, or once you and your counselor agree it’s a good time to transition to creating a plan to reach your goals.
Some differences between coaching and counseling are:
| Coaching | Counseling |
| Present and future focused | Can be past-focused |
| Goal-oriented and collaborative | Discovery-oriented |
| Does not treat mental illness | Used to identify personal burdens |
| Clients commit to taking steps | Creates awareness and understanding |
The intention of coaching is to improve self-regulation, relationships, and habits for those feeling everyday stress, transitions, grief, or emotional overwhelm.
Coaching is offered in blocks of sessions plus a discovery session at the beginning. Each session lasts 30 to 60 minutes.
- Discovery Session + 6 Coaching Sessions: $375
- Discovery Session + 12 Coaching Sessions: $700
All Coaching Sessions must be paid in advance. After completing a package of coaching sessions, additional sessions can be purchased for $65 per hour.
